the fools dance
around the fire
they did advance
with clutching hands

they mumbled words
in hypnotic trance
beseeching cries
in ancient chants
the gods ignored
their imploring stance
and left them all
to fate and chance
perhaps to some
a life enhanced
will befall
when wisdom grants
